  Enchanting Isan is a distinctive 13 days off-the-beaten-track itinerary to Northeast Thailand also known as Isan, a vaste area that includes 20 provinces. This region homes a number of important Bronze Age sites with prehistoric art such as cliff painting and artifacts.

Beginning the tour from Bangkok visit the Grand Palace complex and the main temples Wat Arun, WatPho and Wat Phra Kaew. Enjoy the exquisite street food at Wang Lang market

Admire the beauty of The Red Lotus Sea, one of the strangest freshwater lakes in the world, home to a wide variety of birds and fish species, and explore Ban Chiang Archaeological Site where has been found evidence of civilization dated back to 3,500 years ago. 

Phu Phra Bat Historical Park unique for the unusual rock formations, prehistoric rock paintings, and a number of millennia-old religious shrines. 

Stroll along the small alley of the fascinating wood town Chiang Khan and lear about the ghost folklore in Dan Sai district.

Enjoy few days of relax on the stunning beach at Krabi on southern Thailand’s west coast, famous for dense mangrove forests and more than a hundred offshore islands.

ITINERARY

01. ARRIVAL IN BANGKOK

Arrival in Thailand, the “Land of Smiles”. 

Welcome by our staff at Bangkok international airport
and transfer to the hotel.

02. BANGKOK CITY TOUR

After breakfast we begin an unforgettable day trip to the most important Bangkok’s cultural sights.

Visit Wat Arun, know also as the Temple of Down, a Buddhist temple complex built in 17th century, among the most important historic landmark in Thailand for the impressive central Prang encrusted with colourful porcelain.

Afterwards we cross the Chao Phraya River by ferry and proceed to Wat Pho, know also as the Reclining Buddha Temple, a Buddhist temple complex which houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha. Is considered the oldest center for public education and includes a school of Thai Medicine and traditional Thai Massage. 

We continue the visits to the Grand Palace, the buildings complex at the heart of the capital, official residence of the Kings of Siam since 1782, and to Wat Phra Kaew, commonly known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Built in 1783 within the precincts of the Grand Palace, is considered the most sacred Buddhist temple in the country. Nearby we visit Tha Phrachan’s Amulet Marketone of the largest and most important amulet market in Thailand. 

In the afternoon we transfer by ferry to a less touristic area in Thonburi to visit the Temple of Sacred Bells Wat Rakhang  built during Ayutthaya period. We end the day in a total local style at Wang Lang market, know for the delicious street food.

03. FLIGHT UDON THANI

The morning is free at your leisure in Bangkok.

Later we head to the airport to catch the domestic flight to Udon Thani, one of the major cities in Isan area. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel.

04. RED LOTUS SEA AND BAN CHIANG

In the early morning we visit the extraordinary The Red Lotus Seaone of the strangest freshwater lakes in the world, home to a wide variety of birds and fish species. As the name suggests the lake is a stunning view of a lotus flowers stretching far off into the distance. Is the top attraction in the area but still unknown among foreign tourists, and is best visited from November to February. Some Buddhist monks lives in the temple on the island in the middle of the lake.

We continue to Ban Chiang Archaeological Siteone of the only four UNESCO World Heritage sites in Thailand. It is considered the most important prehistoric settlement so far discovered in South-East Asia. It marks an important stage in human cultural, social and technological evolution and prove the evidence of farming in the region dated back to more than 3,500 years. 

Afterward we visit Na Kha Silk Village and Handicraft Center before to head back to the hotel.

05. PHU PHRAT BAT PARK

In the morning we head to Udon Sunshine, a local farm known for the beautiful orchids, one of the few used to make perfume, and dancing tea plants which move, or dance, to the sound of music.

Later we continue to Phu Phra Bat Historical Park, unique for the unusual rock formations, prehistoric rock paintings, and a number of millennia-old religious shrines, parts of an ancient Buddhist temples. The most significant shrine in the park is Wat Phra Putthabaht Bua Bok, home to a sandstone rock which is believed to be a Buddha footprint.

Visit the recent Wat Pa Phu Kon, built in 2010 to be a peaceful sanctuary for monks and lay people, and to preserve water source, wildlife, and plants in the forest of Na Yung-Nam Som National ParkOne of the most notable features of the temple is a 65 foot long statue of a reclining Buddha. Afterwards transfer to Chiang Khan.

06. CHIANG KHAN TOWN

Founded in the late 19th century Chiang Khan is a little sleepy town very fascinating for the wooden houses and particularly interesting for its cultural heritage and beliefs of the locals, which the townsfolk put a great respect to elders as well as the preservation of Buddhist practice, are the real highlights. It was populated by migrants from Vietnam and China, and villagers from Laos. Due to the location on the Mekong river it used to be an important trading hub for people on both sides who used to exchanged goods, culture, and language. 

Enjoy the sticky rice almsgiving ceremony, a practice that has never been stopped even a single day for at least 2,500 years. 

Visit Phra Phutthabat Phu Khwai Ngoen, where, based on the folklore, Lord Buddha gave a sermon to a beautiful ogress who loved to lure and eat ordinary human beings. Continue to a local mango farm to learn about planting and farming, and try the tasty Green Mango Salad. 

Afterwards we embark for a boat trip on Mekong river to enjoy the stunning landscape of  Thailand and Laos along the riverside.

07. LOEI PROVINCE - TAI DAM VILLAGE

We spend the morning enjoying the beautiful nature of Loei province and discover the lifestyle and unique culture. 

Visit Tai Dam Cultural Museum and Village to learn about the traditions of Thai Dum ethnic people whose ancestors had migrated from Laos in 1905. Visitors can observe the process of the traditional weaving process being demonstrated as well as shop for local produces. 

Continue to Phu Thok (or “lonely mountain), the 359 meter high isolated hill, to Suan Hin Pha Ngam (or “beautiful stone cliff garden”), and Phu Pa Poh, also know as “Thailand’s Mini Fuji”.

08. DAN SAI - PHU RUEA NATIONAL PARK

In the morning we continue to Dan Sai, a small district in Loei Province know for Phi Ta Khon Festival, or “ghost festival”, which occurs yearly in June.

The district is worth the visit also in other periods of the year. At Wat Phon Chai “Temple of Phi Ta Khon” and its Phi Ta Khon museum we can learn about the festival and the mask making.

During the celebrations the town’s residents invite protection from Phra U-pakut, the spirit of the Mun river. They then hold a series of games and take part in a procession wearing masks made of the sheaths or bottom part of thick palm leaf stems. 

Later we continue to Phu Ruea National Park, Wat Neramit Vipassana (Red Laterite Temple), and Phra That Si Song Rak (Stupa of Love from Two Nations).

09. FLIGHT TO KRABI

After breakfast we head to The City Pillar and Chaopho Kut Pong Shrine, the sacred shrines of people since it is believed that angels are living here. Many animal statues have been given to the shrine beside Buddha images and Phra Sankchan who brings luck and happiness. 

Afterwards we transfer to Loei airport in time for the domestic flight to Krabion southern Thailand’s west coast, famous for dense mangrove forests and more than a hundred offshore islands. 

Welcome by our staff upon arrival at Krabi airport and transfer to the hotel. Free time at your own leisure.
