ITINERARY
01. ARRIVE IN YANGON
Arrive in Yangon and accommodation in Hotel.

02. YANGON CITY TOUR
Shwedagon Pagoda
After breakfast we begin the tour in Myanmar with the most important attractions in Yangon. Visit Kaba Aye Pagoda also known as “World Peace Pagoda” built in 1952 on the occasion of the sixth Buddhist Council. We then proceed to the Kalaywa Monastery to observe the daily life of Buddhist monks.
In the afternoon we continue to Chauk Htat Gyi Buddha Temple, known for the 72 meters reclining Buddha statue, among the largest in Burma. Explore Bogyoke Aung San Market, or “Scott Market”, one of the largest bazaars in Yangon where over 2000 merchants sell clothes, precious stones, traditional crafts and souvenirs. We proceed to Kandawgyi Park to admire the Karaweik Barge and Karawaik Hall.
We end the day at the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred pagoda in Myanmar. The massive bell of the stupa is gold-plated and the tip is embellished with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and topazes. An unmissable show and the most suitable place to start your journey.

03. BAGAN
Ananda Temple – Bagan
In the early morning we catch the domestic flight to Bagan the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Pagan from IX to XIII, formerly known as the Arimaddanapura. Of the 10,000 temples 2,200 survived over 700 years of history. Bagan was for many decades the center of religious studies since the times of the Khmer Kingdom.
Upon arrival we visit the colorful and crowded local market: a unique opportunity to observe local folklore and learn about the Burmese daily lifestyle. We continue with a visit to Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype of the stupas built subsequently in Myanmar, for an introduction to the rich history of the archaeological Bagan temple complex.
Afterwards we visit Wetkyi-In Gu-Byauk-Gyi temple, known for the narrative murals of the Jataka (previous life of Buddha) and the two-storey temple Htilo-Minlo, known for the plaster sculptures.
After lunch we continue to Ananda temple, one of the greatest architectural masterpieces in Bagan, built in the early Mon-Myanmar style. We proceed to That-Byin-Nyu temple, built during 12th century, the highest in Bagan, to Dhamma Yangy temple, known for its singular brick construction , and to Gawdawpalin temple.
We end the day with a slow cruise on Irrawady river to enjoy the romantic sunset by observing the unique perspective of Bagan temples, fishing villages and villages on the shore.

04. MOUNT POPA
Mount Popa
Transfer by car to the notorious Mount Popa, about 50 km southeast of Bagan (1h), the core of an extinct volcano, active about 25,000 years ago.
Is known for the popular belief that the animist recognizes as the abode of Nats: 37 magical spirits both feared and honored by the majority of the Burmese people. The mountain reaches an altitude of 1520 mt. To reach the top it takes about 45 minutes.
Visit the Mahagiri Sanctuary, Mahagiri Shrine, dedicated to the Nats. From the top you can enjoy a spectacular view of the valley.
At the end return to the hotel in Bagan.

05. 1˚part BAGAN - MANDALAY CRUISE
After breakfast, transfer to the pier of Bagan Aye Yar and boarding at 11:30 am.

06. 2˚PART BAGAN - MANDALAY CRUISE
Navigation proceeds for the entire day with stops along the route, following the program of the shipping company considered.
In the morning, stop in Yandabo, typical river village specializing in the production of cookware, where February 24, 1826 was signed the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese War. Visit the workshops and the monastery.
For overnight stays we moor near a village (Ywar Thit Gyi or Pauk Myaing Pauk Taw).

07. AMARAPURA – SAGAING – PYIN Oo LWIN
U Bein bridge
We begin the last part of the cruise with the beautiful sunrise from the deck. After breakfast on board landed in Sagaing.
Transfer to Amarapura, the “city of immortality” twice capital of Myanmar in the 18th and 19th centuries, known today for the precious silk and cotton processing.
Visit Mahar Gandar YonMonastery to deepen understanding of the Buddhist religion and learn about the daily life of the monks. Afterwards we proceed to the famous U-Bein teak bridge on Lake Taungtaman, built in 1850, 1.2 Km long and considered the longest wooden bridge in the world.
In the afternoon visit to the monuments on the Sagaing Hill and continue to Pyin Oo Lwin.

08. TRAIN HSIPAW – TREKKING LOCAL VILLAGES
Goteik Viaduct
In the morning we reach the railway station of Pyin Oo Lwin in time for the excursion by train to Hsipaw (approximately 4h) passing over the Goteik viaduct between steep hills and breathtaking gorges.
The bridge, the highest in Myanmar, was built in 1899 during the British colony with the initial purpose of transporting goods in Shan State, an important ally british after the conquest of Burma. It is considered an extraordinary feat of engineering. Measuring 689 meters and includes 15 towers.
Upon arrival at the station Nwang Pang continue with our private vehicle to Hsipaw.

09. TREKKING HSIPAW
In the morning we hike through the Shan villages to observe the way of life of minorities and to know the culture and local customs. Later we board on a local boat on the river immersed in a scenery of mountains, valleys, fruit plantations along the shore.
Stop for a short 45-minute trek through the orchards to the ancient Tai Monastery, built about 150 years ago.
In the afternoon we return to the boat and continue the excursion. If desired you can take a swim in the river. Last stop of the day to a Shan village with traditional homesteads.
At the end of the day transfer to the hotel in Hsipaw.

10. LASHIO - HEHO - INLE LAKE
After breakfast transfer to Lashio airport and catch the domestic flight to Heho.
Transfer to the hotel on Inle Lake and accommodation.
The afternoon is free at your disposal to explore the area.

11. KAKKU COMPLEX
Kakku Complex
After breakfast we continue the trip to Taunggyi (about 2.5h) to visit the archaeological site of Kakku, among the largest complex of pagodas in Asia with 2400 stupa dating back several centuries ago.
The legend has it that the site was built during the reign of King Alaungsithu, in the 12th century, while some researchers, despite the absence of written artefacts, have placed the primary buildings from the 16th to the 18th century. However, some facilities are without a doubt much older.
During the transfer, visit to Htan Pya Ya Village and Aye Tharyar Vinery.

12. INLE LAKE - INDEIN COMPLEX
Indein Complex
In the morning we board a private boat to explore Inle Lake and discover ethnic and craft villages: an exciting opportunity to closely observe the famous method the Burmese unique style of fishing “one leg row”, farms, floating gardens and small islands.
Visit Phaung Daw Oo-Phaya Pagoda, the holiest in Shan State.
We continue with a visit to the weaving workshops at Inpawkhon and one of the markets on Inle Lake (vary by day of week).
In the afternoon we continue the boat trip to the south of Lake Inle through the lush vegetation to Indein, the village known for the amazing archaeological site that houses hundreds of ancient Buddhist pagodas dated XIV-XVIII century, hidden by vegetation.

20. GOLDEN ROCK - DEPARTURE
Golden Rock
We conclude our journey in Myanmar with the excursion to the famous Golden Rock at about 1100 meters above sea level.
Upon arrival at the “base camp” Yatetaung we hop on a truck equipped for the transport of visitors to get to top of the mountain.
Visit the Golden Rock, or Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, among the most sacred places in Myanmar, a fundamental pilgrimage destination for Buddhist faithful after the Schwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and the Mahamuni temple in Mandalay.
The most striking visitor is undoubtedly the huge granite boulder covered with thin gold leaves that seems to be in evident precarious balance. On it stands the small Buddhist pagoda which is only 7 meters high. From this point you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama and enchanting sunsets.
