TRIP OVERVIEW

A “journey through time” where it all began. This itinerary takes us back to the birth place of the most important Empire of South East Asia. In 802 AD the sovereign Jayavarman II declared himself “Universal Monarch” and founded the first sacred city, “Mahendraparvata“. Today Kulen is considered the most sacred mountain in Cambodia.

Nearby there is the 16th century pagoda, Wat Preah Ang Thom, which houses an 8 meter long reclining Buddha, a constant destination for Buddhist faithful and monks.

After an easy walk we reach a large waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Cambodia, where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing swim.

This itinerary can be customised based on your actual travel needs and can be extended to the beach or combined to other tours.

01. PHNOM KULEN

Ruins at Phnom Kulen

Pickup at the airport or at your hotel and transfer to Phnom Kulen (60 Km, approximately 1h30).

Upon arrival we visit the small river where the engravings of the sacred yoni and lingam symbols are visible. We continue to the ruins of Mahendraparvata, the first Khmer sacred city, and to the Buddhist pagoda Preah Ang Thom, built in the 16th century, which houses an 8 meter statue of the reclining Buddha.

Following a path for about 10 minutes we reach what is probably the most awaited attraction, the great waterfall of Phnom Kulen, where we can spend some time to relax and swim.
