TRIP OVERVIEW

Discover Kompong Kleang floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, inhabited by thousands of people who still live in high wooden stilts and houseboats. This is a relevant experience to learn about the roots of the local culture.

As one of the world’s most varied and productive ecosystems in the region, Tonle Sap Lake has always been of central importance for Cambodian’s food supply since the Khmer Empire, the largest pre-industrial settlement complex in world history.

Admire the grandeur of Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world and the quaint Ta Prohm temple, surrounded by the massive roots of centuries-old banyan trees.

Marvel at the majesty of Bayon temple, known for the 216 giant stone faces which jut out from the 54 towers and stroll over Elephant Terrace where the Throne Room once stood.

Along the way we visit other important historical sites such as Phimeanakas temple and the Leeper King Terrace.

This itinerary can be customised based on your actual travel needs and can be extended and combined to other tours.

ITINERARY

01. VISIT FLOATING VILLAGE

Kompong Kleang villageKompong Kleang village

Welcome meeting with our staff upon arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

In the afternoon we drive east to Dom Dek village. Time permitting, we stop at the colourful and authentic Dom Dek local market.

Leaving the main road, we continue south towards the surreal atmosphere of Kompong Kleang: a long dirt path lined with houses built over stilts up to 10 meters high to survive the flooding of the rainy season.

Uncover the daily life of the villagers. The locals here make their living fishing, as it once was.

We then sail along the canal into Tonle Sap Lake on a private and traditional wooden boat.

Further on we reach the floating village: a large community that has lived and worked on the water for centuries. In the village there are schools, shops, workshops and floating restaurants besides houses.

Included : Private pick up at the airport, tour guide, tickets, private transportation and accommodation
