Glide on the Mekong to the Irrawaddy Dolphins Sanctuary where you will spot a very rare river species that exist in just few places in the world. Trek in the tropical jungle and discover a hidden corner of Cambodia where a local ethnic group still practice animal sacrifices for funeral rites.

We begin this long journey travelling east towards Kratie city. Along the way stop in Skuon market known for its curious food amenities, especially fried spiders. Continue through a rural landscape along rice crops and rubber tree plantations.

In Kompong Cham visit Wat Nokor temple, a modern Theravada Buddhist Pagoda built inside the walls of an Angkorian Mahayana Buddhist temple. The striking contrast of the two architectures is of great impact.

Arrive in Kratie in the afternoon in time for a private boat ride in the Mekong at sunset to spot the famous “Irrawaddy black dolphins”: a unique experience to see these rare mammals as close as possible.

Continue the journey pushing towards the Vietnam border. We reach Sen Monorom in Mondulkiri province, among the most remote of Cambodia and with the lowest population density, known for its rich vegetation and the mighty waterfalls.

In the afternoon we visit Bou Sra waterfall, considered among the most beautiful in the Country. Afterwards, stop at the Doh Kromom Hilltop Pagoda, from which you can enjoy an incredible panorama of the dense surrounding forest. We continue to Samot Cheur, or “Ocean of trees”, another well-known panoramic viewpoint for an incredible sunset.

Spend the day in the tropical jungle of Mondulkiri and experience the trekking led by a real tribal guide from local minority. Learn about their daily life, village stories, religion and culture.

After a short hike reach the elephants camp where the tribal guide will give you insights about the life of the Mondulkiri elephants by providing you with information on the correct behaviour in respect of these magnificent animals and how to feed them.

In respect of the elephants and in order not to cause them stress deriving from the exploitation for tourist purposes, there are no elephant rides.

At lunch time we reach Leng Truk waterfall where you can take the opportunity to relax in the magnificent natural setting. Join the elephants for the “afternoon swim” for an unforgettable moment.

We end the day by greeting the elephants and their mahut and returning to the village on foot surrounded by spectacular nature.

After breakfast we continue to Banlung town, in Ratanakiri. Visit the Gem Mines at the remote village of Bokeo, known for the extraction of zircons famous in the world for the unique blue color. Along the way we will also stop at some rubber tree plantations. 

Visit the famous Yeak Laom Lake: perfectly round, with an exceptional diameter of 720 meters occupies a 4000-year-old volcanic crater and reaches a maximum depth of about 50 meters. The particularly clean water with excellent visibility offers the possibility of a refreshing bath. The perimeter is totally practicable following the path that winds through a dense rainforest that hosts many species of exotic birds and parrots.

A unique and extraordinary experience awaits us today: a visit to Kachok village and to the tribal cemetery. From Banlung we head north for about 1.5 hours to Vernsai where we embark on a small boat on Tonle San river for about 1 hour. Once at the tribal village, accompanied by a local tribal guide, we continue into the forest to the animist cemetery, still a place of rituals and funeral ceremonies. 

In the afternoon on the way back to town we stop to an authentic village to observe the day life of the community. Continue to the beautiful Kachanh waterfall where we can enjoy a refreshing swim.

After breakfast visit Banlung tribal market where is not difficult to stop some quite interesting amenities.

Later we leave the remote province of Ratanakiri to move further north to Stung Treng, near Laos border. Following a detour of 50 km on a dirt road in an uninhabited area we reach Sopeakmith waterfall, the astonishing Mekong cataracts at the point of greatest flow and vigor with multiple jumps of different heights.

In the late afternoon we reach Sra Em, in Preah Viher province.

We continue north till Preah Vihear temple, the incredible Khmer temple off the beaten track, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008, situated on the edge of Dangrek Mountains atop 525 mt. cliff that dominates the plain of Cambodia. At the base of the mountain we board a pickup truck to reach the top due to the extreme slope of the path.

Continue to Koh Ker archeological site, one of the ancient cities of the Khmer Empire, located in the middle of the jungle. Climb the 7 levels pyramid-shaped sanctuary 35 meters high Prasat Thom, the most impressive and iconic sanctuary of the site. Transfer to Siem Reap.

We begin the journey with the visit to Angkor archaeological site. Our selection of the most important temples certainly includes the oldest sanctuaries such as the Prasad Kravan, the Pre Rup mountain temple, the fascinating “citadel of women” Banteay Srei known for its delicate bas-reliefs.

Visit the Buddhist temples Ta Som, modest in size but extremely fascinating, Neak Pean, the representation of Anavatapta, a mythical lake in the Himalayas whose waters are thought to cure all illness, and Preah Khan, “The Great Sword”, built on the field of the last battle of Jayavrarman VII for the reconquest of the Kingdom invaded by the Champa Empire.

After breakfast we continue the visits to the archaeological site at the best known Angkor Wat temples, the largest religious building in the world, the most picturesque Ta Phrom wrapped in the huge roots of centennial trees, and the group of temples of “The Great City” Angkor Thom where stands out the Bayon temple known for the 216 giant stone faces that overhang the 54 towers.

Today an extraordinary visit to one of Cambodia’s most authentic and least touristy floating villages awaits us to observe the authentic lifestyle and traditions of the fishermen on Tonle Sap lake. We reach Kompong Kleang village and embark for an excursion in the canal lined with houses on stilts and houseboats. A unique experience that takes us back in time.

In the afternoon we enter the fascinating and adventurous ruins of the Beang Melea temple completely surrounded by the forest

After breakfast we continue our journey to the capital Phnom Penh. The long transfer allows us to observe the daily lifestyle of Khmer people. We stop for a short visit in Kompong Kdey at Spean Preah Toues the largest and most important Angkorian bridge still in existence. Built on 12th century it measures 86 meters in length and 16 meters in width, and is supported by 21 arches. At the time it was located in the central area of the Kingdom.

Later we stop at Kompong Thom town to visit the pre-Angkorian site Sambor Prei Kuk, once known as Ishanapura, the capital of the Cenla Empire in the 7th-8th centuries. The complex consists of three main groups of buildings which are still visible the singular Hindu temples octagonal plan, sole survivors of an influence of Indian models then will disappear Khmer architecture. Arrival in Phnom Penh in the late afternoon and accommodation in the hotel.

Let’s explore the charming capital Phnom Penh, once known as the “Pearl of Asia,” one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina in the 1920s.

Despite growing urbanization it still retains the spirit of the traditional Khmer lifestyle. We visit the Royal Palace where the Throne Hallo and the Silver Pagoda stand out. Tuol Sleng genocide museum is certainly worth a visit, witnessing the dramatic period of the Khmer Rouge regime.

We conclude the day at the suggestive and colourful local market before the transfer to the international airport.
